Most 700C, 28 inch and 29 inch road-family tyres share a 622 mm bead-seat diameter, but the width changes the ride and the bike clearance. Use the full ETRTO marking before comparing fast road, city, trekking, e-bike or wide 28x2 options.

622 is the anchor

A tyre marked 700x28C, 700x40C, 28x2.00 or 29x2.00 may all use a 622 mm rim. Do not rely on the inch or 700C name alone; confirm the second ETRTO number before choosing a tyre or tube.

Width changes clearance

A 50-622 tyre is much wider than a 28-622 road tyre. Check frame, fork, brake, mudguard and rack clearance before moving from a narrow road tyre to a wide city, trekking or gravel casing.

Build the full setup

Pair the tyre with a matching 700C tube, rim tape and protection or repair products when repeated punctures come from the rim bed, casing damage or daily road debris.
