A 24x2 bike tyre is a wide 24 inch tyre used on some kids' bikes, cruisers, utility bikes, BMX-style bikes and small cargo or e-bike setups. The most useful compatibility marking is usually ETRTO 50-507, meaning roughly 50 mm wide on a 507 mm rim.
What does 24x2 mean?
The inch label 24x2.00 is useful for searching, but it is not enough on its own. Several different tyre sizes can be called 24 inch. The ETRTO number printed on the sidewall is the safer check: for common 24x2 tyres, look for 50-507 or a very close width on the same 507 mm rim diameter.
Why ETRTO 50-507 matters
The second ETRTO number, 507, is the rim bead seat diameter and must match your wheel. The first number, around 50, is the tyre width. A tyre marked 24x2.00 / 50-507 is not the same as every 24 inch road, wheelchair or kids' tyre, so compare the full sidewall before ordering.
Choosing tread and puncture protection
For everyday riding, models such as Big Apple, Land Cruiser or similar city/trekking tyres prioritise comfort and reliability. For mixed surfaces or BMX-style use, a more textured tread may make sense. If the bike is used for commuting, school runs or e-bike cargo work, compare puncture protection and reflective sidewalls as well as width.
Check frame and mudguard clearance
A 24x2 tyre is wider than many original 24 inch tyres. Before moving up in width, check the fork crown, chainstays, seatstays, mudguards and brakes. Leave space for wheel flex, mud and manufacturing tolerances. If your old tyre was narrower, do not assume a 2.00 inch tyre will fit.
Compatible 24 inch inner tubes
Use an inner tube whose stated range includes your tyre width and rim diameter, for example 24x1.75-2.50 or an ETRTO range around 47/62-507. Schrader valves are common on many 24 inch utility and kids' bikes, but some rims use Presta. Match the valve before ordering.
