Choose 20 inch inner tubes by ETRTO, width range and valve

A 20 inch tube search can mean several rim diameters. Common BMX, trailer and folding-bike tyres often use 406 mm, faster small wheels may use 451 mm, and old French-size searches such as 500x28A or 600x28A need their own ETRTO check before a tube is chosen.

406, 440 and 451 differ

The old name can hide the real rim diameter. A tube marked for 406 should not be treated as a safe 440 or 451 mm replacement unless that range is printed on the tube.

Match width range

A narrow 20x1 1/8 tyre and a 20x4.00 fat-bike tyre are both "20 inch" in search terms, but they need very different tube width ranges.

Check valve access

Small wheels can have tight valve access. Match Presta or Schrader to the rim hole and make sure the valve length and angle are practical for the wheel.
