A 16x3 bike tyre is a wide compact-wheel size, often used on special junior bikes, mini fat bikes, compact utility bikes and custom builds. The key size to verify is ETRTO 76-305: approximately 76 mm wide on a 305 mm rim.
16 inch is not enough information
Several different tyre standards are described as 16 inch. The second ETRTO number, 305, is the rim diameter and must match your wheel. The first number, 76, explains why this tyre is much wider than a normal 16x1.75 or 16x2.00 tyre.
Where 16x3 tyres are used
This size is not a default replacement for every child bike. It is more likely to appear on wide-tyre compact bicycles, fat-style kids' bikes, small e-bikes or specialist builds where the frame was designed around extra volume. The large casing adds comfort and grip, but it also needs space.
Clearance checks before ordering
Measure the current tyre, then check the fork legs, chainstays, seatstays, brake area, mudguards and any stabiliser or rack mounts. A tyre close to 76 mm wide can rub if the frame was built for a narrower size. If your old tyre was 16x2.125 or smaller, do not step up to 16x3 without confirming the frame.
Tube compatibility
The hardest part of a 16x3 replacement can be the tube. A normal 16 inch tube for 1.50-2.125 inch tyres may stretch too far in a 3 inch casing. Look for a tube with a width range that genuinely covers the tyre volume, and match Schrader or Presta valve to the rim.
Tread and pressure
A wide compact tyre can feel stable and comfortable at the right pressure, but pressure must stay within the range printed on the sidewall. Lower pressure can add comfort but increases the risk of pinch flats, sidewall movement and poor handling if taken too far.
